Texas Telehealth Bill Passes Senate

Yesterday, Texas Senate Bill 1107 passed the State’s Senate unanimously. We alerted you to the bill’s passage through the Health and Human Services Committee last week, and it moved quickly to the Senate floor for a vote. The language that a patient and provider meet in person before taking advantage of telehealth services remains eliminated, and it still requires the same standard of care for telehealth services as for in-person visits.

The Texas House companion bill to SB 1107, House Bill 2697, is still with the House Committee on Public Health. ERIC submitted written testimony earlier this week in support of the bill since it mirrors the language in the recently passed Senate bill. ERIC will continue to actively engage in the legislative process as the House bill moves forward.
