The ERISA Industry Committee Urges House Education and Labor Committee to Oppose H.R. 7780 – “Mental Health Matters Act”

The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) today urged Members of the House Education and Labor Committee to oppose H.R. 7780, the “Mental Health Matters Act,” which includes provisions from H.R. 7740, the “Employee and Retiree Access to Justice Act of 2022”, and H.R. 7767, the “Strengthening Behavioral Health Benefits Act” when it comes to a vote.

“Despite the names, these bills would not increase access to justice or benefits but would significantly increase costs and reduce access to benefits,” said Annette Guarisco Fildes President & CEO of ERIC.

“Because H.R. 7780 fails to improve behavioral health or employee benefits and instead raises costs while threatening benefits for employees and their families, ERIC urges all members to vote NO, and oppose the passage of H.R. 7780. We look forward to working with Congress on effective, bipartisan solutions to improve behavioral health and other employee benefits,” added Guarisco Fildes.
