The ERISA Industry Committee Leads Charge for Uniform Telehealth Regulations

Allison Wils driving ERIC’s telehealth initiative

For Immediate Release

Washington, DC – With widespread interest in the growth of telehealth, The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) today announced it has created a telehealth initiative led by Allison Wils, ERIC’s Director of Health Policy.

Through the initiative, ERIC –the only national trade association advocating solely for the employee benefit and compensation interests of the country’s largest employers –is working to enable workers, and their families, 24-hour access to the care they need, when and how they need it, regardless of where they live or work. ERIC believes in the elimination of barriers that impede the efficient and effective delivery of health care. ERIC encourages the use of technology platforms designed for telehealth, as well as updating policies that facilitate inter-state practice so providers can serve patients anywhere across the nation.

“ERIC seeks to enhance the ability of our members to provide the best health care possible to their employees, retirees, and families at affordable costs,” said Annette Guarisco Fildes, president and CEO, ERIC. “Our member companies believe states need to develop consistent rules to ensure employees, who live in both rural and urban areas, are receiving equal access to care.”

As the leader of ERIC’s telehealth initiative, Ms. Wils will work to strengthen the collective voice of large employers advocating for telehealth services, as well as work with member companies to support consistent state laws governing the use and availability of these services.

“Given the speed at which states are regulating telehealth it is important to have Allison leading the initiative to promote policies that facilitate equal access to telehealth for all employees and their families,” said Guarisco Fildes.

Ms. Wils comes to ERIC from the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP), where she focused on insurance exchanges. Before joining NASHP, she was on the operations and policy teams of Oregon’s health insurance exchange.
