Ohio Lawmakers Must Act Quickly to Expand Access to Telemedicine

Washington, DC – The following statement supports testimony submitted to the Ohio Senate Insurance and Financial Committee. The statement should be attributed to James Gelfand, Senior Vice President of Health Policy at The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC):

“As the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise, lawmakers must act quickly to limit everyone’s exposure to the virus. One way to do that is to allow Ohio residents to access health care providers from the safety of their homes.

For this reason, ERIC urges state lawmakers to swiftly pass H.B 679 and expand access to telemedicine across the state.

ERIC also commends Representatives Mark Fraizer and Adam Holmes for amending H.B. 679 to reflect our previously recommended changes. We confidently believe that the bill’s new, amended version gives Ohioans the best option to access care when and how they need it.”
