ERIC Backs Senate Introduction of Direct Primary Care Legislation

Washington, DC, April 5, 2023 – Today, The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) endorsed the Primary Care Enhancement Act (S. 628), legislation that would allow Americans enrolled in high deductible health plans (HDHPs) paired with a health savings account (HSA) to participate in direct primary care arrangements. ERIC strongly supports this legislation, as it expands access to high-value primary care services for Americans of all incomes and ages.

“ERIC member companies value quality care and services that benefit their employees who want access to medical professionals, and help managing and improving their health,” said Melissa Bartlett, Senior Vice President of Health Policy at ERIC. “Direct primary care provides patients with important access to care and our outdated tax code must be updated so more patients can utilize this care option. The Primary Care Enhancement Act affords patients this choice.”
