ERIC Applauds White House for Protecting COVID-19 Survivors from Surprise Medical Bills

For Immediate Release

Washington, DC – The following statement should be attributed to Annette Guarisco Fildes, President and CEO of The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC):

“The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) applauds President Trump and his Administration for today’s actions to protect COVID-19 patients from surprise medical bills. While Congress has failed to act, the Administration is taking on health care providers that rate profits over patients.

In a time when nothing is certain, patients can take solace in knowing that they will not receive outrageous, unavoidable bills weeks and months after they have survived the virus.

We hope that once the crisis is over, Congress will follow the Administration’s lead and end surprise medical billing, a practice that takes advantage of Americans during their most vulnerable moments – before surgery, during emergency air transport, or in an emergency room – once and for all.”
