Congress Must Act to Protect Health Care Benefits

For Immediate Release

Washington, DC – The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) joined with more than 30 business organizations to call on Congress to protect access to health care for millions of Americans during and after the COVID-19 crisis.

“Congress must act to protect the health care benefits of all American workers and families, during this pandemic and beyond,” said Annette Guarisco Fildes, President and CEO of The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC). “By reducing health care prices and expanding its value and accessibility well beyond the crisis, employers and their employees will be better protected from abusive practices, rising costs, and loss of health coverage, today and in the future.”

The letter included recommendations to ensure employees and their families can continue to access high quality, affordable health care:

• Providing affordable coverage in the immediate and longer-term
• Ensuring access to primary care clinicians
• Stopping price gouging and protecting patients from surprise bills
• Mitigating risk in the health insurance market
