Governor Kemp of Georgia signed HB 34 into law on May 10. HB 34 enters Georgia into the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact (ASLP-IC).
The ASLP Compact is now fully operational, which permits licensed audiologists and speech-language pathologists to apply for a privilege to practice in-person and through telehealth in ASLP-IC states. This is a compact ERIC has been supporting across the country. The following states have enacted ASLP-IC legislation:
- Utah
- Wyoming
- Nebraska
- Kansas
- Oklahoma
- Louisiana
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Kentucky
- North Carolina
- West Virginia
It is of importance to note, most interstate compacts need 10 participating states to sign-on before a compact can become operational.
The following states have pending ASPL-IC legislation:
- Washington
- Oregon
- Colorado
- New Mexico
- Texas
- Iowa
- Indiana
- Ohio
- Maryland
- South Carolina
- New Hampshire
ERIC is currently advocating for the passage of ASPL-IC legislation in the above states.
