ERIC Win: Ohio Senate Passes Audiology Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact

The Ohio Senate passed HB 252 during their scheduled floor session last week. HB 252 allows Ohio to enter the Audiology Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact (ASLP-IC). ERIC helped secure a floor vote by the Senate by encouraging the Ohio Senate President to schedule a floor vote for HB 252, so Ohioans could start benefiting from the ASLP-IC.

The bill needs to be sent to the Governor for signature, where we anticipate him signing the legislation as he recently signed the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) proposal.

As a reminder, the Compact becomes operational when ten states enact ASLP-IC into law. Including Ohio, 14 states have signed on to the ASLP-IC Compact, with pending legislation in many additional states. An operational Compact means licensed audiologists and speech-language pathologists can practice across state lines without becoming licensed in other ASLP-IC member states, increasing access, and facilitating continuity of care.
