A Year-In-Review: ERIC Defeats New York Health Act Legislation

ERIC defeated the New York Health Act proposed by AB 6058/SB 5474, which attempted to create a single-payer health care system in the state and critically disrupt self-funded, employer-sponsored health benefit plans.

ERIC formed a coalition of influential state advocacy groups to inform and educate New York lawmakers of the negative impacts that the Act would have on employers and employees across the state and ultimately prevent the bill from making it out of committee to a floor vote.

While some New York legislators intend to continue this policy push into future legislative sessions, ERIC will remain vigilant in fighting back against state or local attempts to control the administration of employee benefits.
