ERIC remains steadfast in our belief that the City of Seattle is violating federal law by imposing benefit mandates on employers that already offer health coverage to their employees in compliance with federal law. We are reviewing yesterday’s filing by the City and will continue our fight to protect employers from state and local mandates on federally regulated benefit plans.

Governor Whitmer signed HB 4459, which will now ban balance billing for out-of-network services that are delivered at in-network facilities, as well as in emergency rooms, and specifies that providers will be reimbursed based on the average negotiated in-network rate in that region, or 150 percent of Medicare rates.

On October 21, the Louisiana House passed SB 34 with 96 yeas and 0 nays. However, an amendment was added which meant the bill needed to be sent back to the Senate for a full vote – which happened promptly.
