Louisiana State House Passed the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Legislation

On October 21, the Louisiana House passed SB 34 with 96 yeas and 0 nays. However, an amendment was added which meant the bill needed to be sent back to the Senate for a full vote – which happened promptly.

The amendment clarifies that a license issued to an audiologist or speech-language pathologist in their home state will be recognized by each member state as authorizing the person to practice audiology or speech-language pathology in states who participate in the Compact. The Senate adopted SB 34 (with the amendment), with 35 yeas and 0 nays.

The bill has now been enrolled and will be sent to the Governor’s desk.
