ERIC's Biosimilars Initiative Reveals How Biosimilars Can Help Cut Costs

Wednesday, April 1, 2020 (2pm - 4:30pm US/Eastern)

This is a member-only webinar.*

ERIC implemented a three-part initiative on the cost-saving potential of biosimilar medications. Lead researchers from Johns Hopkins University will discuss our groundbreaking research, which analyzed biosimilar usage of 13 ERIC member companies, extrapolating the cost savings opportunities.

The webinar will also highlight the two other parts of the initiative focused on benefit design strategies that employers could use to increase the adoption of biosimilar medications and public policies that federal and state lawmakers could adopt to promote the availability of biosimilars on the marketplace as a cost-effective equivalent therapy to biologics.

Agenda:

2:00 p.m. - 2:03 p.m.: ERIC ensures that all participants have joined and can hear clearly

2:03 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.: Impetus behind the biosimilars research project – ERIC Staff

2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.: Dr. Gerard Anderson, Dr. Mariana Socal, and Dr. Jeromie Ballreich from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health present their findings based on data shared by 13 ERIC member companies related to biosimilar usage and the associated cost-saving opportunities

3:15 p.m. - 3:55 p.m.: Eileen Pincay from Segal presents on the plan design strategies employers can employ today to promote the appropriate use of biosimilars in health care benefit packages

3:55 p.m. - 4:20 p.m.: ERIC Staff present on federal and state public policies that could accelerate the availability and accessibility of biosimilars, based on a study prepared by Fidelity Investments

4:20 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.: Conclusion and next steps
