03/10/16 - ERIC: FocusOn Call on Closed Defined Benefit Plans and Changes in the General Test for Nondiscrimination

Thursday, March 10, 2016 (2pm - 3:30pm US/Eastern)

The registration period for this meeting has ended.

Call Time: 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (ET)

This is a member-only call.

Please join ERIC for a call on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (ET) if you have a Frozen Defined Benefit Plan or if you use the general test to pass nondiscrimination in amounts testing in either a defined benefit plan or a defined contribution plan.

The call, led by Michael Francese and Richard Shea of Covington & Burling and Jan Harbold of AON Hewitt, will focus on drafting comments to proposed regulations impacting frozen defined benefit plans, allowing you to provide feedback on what should be included in the comments.

The call will be broken into two parts. Please join the call for the portion that is applicable to the issue you may be facing as a plan sponsor.

2:00 – 2:45: Frozen Defined Benefit Plan
Please join if you have a closed defined benefit plan and have encountered or expect to encounter problems with passing non-discrimination testing.

2:45 – 3:30: Changes to the General Test for Nondiscrimination in Amounts
Please join if you use the general test to pass nondiscrimination in amounts testing in either a defined benefit plan or a defined contribution plan. Plans that are most likely to incur issues under the proposed change are those that include legacy formulas that apply to closed groups of participants, or plans that include so-called QSERPs.
