Congress recently passed legislation ("Surface Transportation and Veterans Health Care Choice Improvement Act of 2015") that extends the life of Section 420 of the Internal Revenue Code through December 31, 2025.

Section 420 currently permits excess pension funding of defined benefit plans to be used to pay for retiree health care and retiree life insurance premiums. ERIC has actively supported the extension and expansion of Section 420. The Task Force on Section 420 issues will work on ideas to expand Section 420 for wider/additional uses. Come with ideas to share and discuss!
