ERIC Writes Treasury on Election of Corporate Bond Yield Curve

ERIC has asked the Treasury Department for guidance on the election to use the corporate bond yield curve for purposes of determining minimum required contributions. ERIC sent a letter to Tom Reeder, Benefits Tax Counsel at the Treasury Department regarding this guidance and issues related to the April 1 actuarial certification deadline associated with this rule.

Specifically, ERIC says that new guidance is needed to allow the proposed regulation under I.R.C. Section 430(h)(2)(D)(ii) to fully permit plan sponsors to elect to use the corporate bond yield curve for any applicable month (instead of only "for the month preceding the month that includes the valuation date" as prescribed in proposed regulations).
