The Lower Health Care Costs Act Works

For Immediate Release

Washington, DC – The following statement should be attributed to Annette Guarisco Fildes, President and CEO of The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC):“The Congressional Budget Office’s score of S. 1895, the Lower Health Care Costs Act, proves that the bill works. It would do what it is supposed to do – reduce the cost of health insurance and prescription drug costs, protect patients from surprise medical bills, increase transparency and competition by allowing people to see the best doctors at the best prices – all while lowering the federal deficit.

Employees in every industry sector would benefit under S. 1895, as would Veterans, those on Medicare and insurance exchanges, etc. More genERIC drugs would be available, including biosimilars, and families would no longer face financial peril from egregious surprise medical bills.

The Senate HELP Committee bill is the path to lower insurance premiums and reduce health care costs for all. We urge Congress to act swiftly and advance this bill and a House alternative. Delays only hurt hard working Americans.”
