Dealing with Pent Up Demand for Elective Surgery

Friday, May 22, 2020 (12pm - 1pm US/Eastern)

This is a member-only webinar.*

The COVID-19 pandemic has delayed most elective surgeries as health care organizations properly focus on the wave of patients overwhelming their acute and intensive care capacity. However, as the curve begins to flatten in some states, national organizations such as the American Hospital Association and the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association have started to release guidelines to resuming elective surgery.

In order to meet the pent up demand, communities will have to relay on free-standing ambulatory surgery centers. This means that now more than ever, it’s critical that patients and payors have information about the safety and quality of these surgery centers. Unlike hospitals, there is little to no publicly reported information on surgery centers. Compared to hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers report on only four quality metrics to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

This webinar discusses the importance of Leapfrog’s new Ambulatory Surgery Center Survey and what employers can do to accelerate access to lifesaving information like infection and complication rates. Presented by Missy Danforth, Vice President, Health Care Ratings, The Leapfrog Group.
