A monthly “huddle” to chat about financial wellness topics. Each “huddle” will focus on one topic and conclude with an open forum for members to discuss any topic on top of mind.

Tax Planning and Financial Wellness
Last year President Trump signed into law the most significant overhaul of the tax code in 30 years and many employees are unsure as to how this is going to impact the tax refunds they’ve grown accustomed to receiving. A July 2018 report projects that only 6% of employees are having the correct amounts withheld from their paycheck, and that over 20% of taxpayers will owe with their 2018 tax return!

Financial Wellness includes helping your employees understand the impact tax reform has on them. We’ll cover some key changes and items to be thinking about:

• Reminding your employees to do a post-tax reform W-4 check-up.
• Changing employee behaviors in the wake of tax reform.
• Impact across the country - limitation on state and local income tax deduction, 401(k) hardship and loan rules, and tax relief for victims of federally declared disasters.
• The opportunity for you to remind your employees about existing tax-advantaged plans.

During the session Cornell Staeger and Aaron Harding from PwC will discuss why tax planning is an often-forgotten element in employee financial wellness programs and what you can do to address it.
