04/25/2012-Health Policy Conference Call: "The Political Fallout from the SCOTUS Decision on the ACA"

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 (2pm - 3:30pm US/Eastern)

Online registration is not available at this time.

Call Time: 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. (EDT)

This is a member-only call

Please join us to discuss the political fallout from the decision expected in June, and how the presidential and Congressional elections in November might alter the reach of the law.

We are extremely excited to have two experts on hand to lead this discussion:

Demetrios Kouzoukas, Counsel to Covington & Burling, served as a high-level official at HHS for the Bush Administration and currently advises Republican lawmakers on strategies for addressing the ACA, both pre- and post-SCOTUS; he is not presently affiliated with any specific campaign. Mr. Kouzoukas will address the political implications of, and how Congress could react to, a SCOTUS decision finding the ACA to be entirely constitutional, entirely unconstitutional, or partially constitutional - i.e., that just the individual mandate is unconstitutional (but severable). For instance, one issue he will discuss will be what actions a Republican Administration might pursue if the SCOTUS finds the ACA to be entirely constitutional.

Caroline Brown, Partner at Covington & Burling, chairs the firm's Federal-State Programs practice, concentrating primarily in the Health Care area. She currently advises a number of states on implementation of the ACA. Ms. Brown will discuss the progress of the states in implementing the ACA and how the SCOTUS decision could affect participation in the State Exchanges - an issue of no small import to employers.
