On
October 24 our Retirement and Health Policy Committee meetings will start with a joint "Ask the Regulators" session with key Administration policymakers, followed by separate committee meetings. The
Health Policy Committee will address recent regulatory developments with the Affordable Care Act and will include an informative session on workforce strategies that employers may consider in light of the ACA.
The
Retirement Security Committee will review the latest regulatory and legislative developments related to pension plans and 401(k) plans. In addition, we will hear from advocacy experts on the risk for retirement benefits during the 2012 lame duck session of Congress. The day will conclude with an evening reception at Del Frisco Grille in the lobby of Covington & Burlings building.
The full-day
General Membership meeting on October 25 will kick off with two Hill staffers,
Russ Sullivan and
Greg Dean, who will be major players in the benefit deliberations during the Lame Duck session of Congress this year as well as the new session of Congress starting in 2013.
Phyllis Borzi, Assistant Secretary for the Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration and a longtime friend of ERIC, will update members and answer questions on the latest regulatory developments affecting employee benefit plans.
Our keynote luncheon speaker will be
Mark McClellan, one of the most sought-after thought leaders in the area of health reform. Topics to be addressed by the day's panels will include leveraging the power of large employers to effect health care cost containment and a panel that will examine strategies to address the rising costs of benefits for employers as well as for their retirees.
