After a short break for the Thanksgiving Holiday, Congress returns this week to negotiations over how to address the so-called fiscal cliff set to take effect at the start of the new year.
Meanwhile, it didn’t take long for the regulators to get back to work after the elections, releasing several pieces of guidance addressing the Affordable Care Act, including, among other things, proposed regulations to implement the Act’s increase in permissible wellness program rewards, guidance on the definition of essential health benefits, and guidance on the definition of “minimum value.”
The PBGC is back requesting authority to set risk-based premiums based on the credit worthiness of a plan sponsor, following the release of its annual report showing an increased deficit and a recent GAO report recommending this option.
Join us on Monday, December 3 to hear from ERIC's Health and Retirement staff for an update on these and other issues we are likely to see in the coming weeks.
