Feb 24, 2004 30-Year Treasury Letter to Senate Conferees (Coalition Letter)
ERIC and other major business groups stepped up its efforts to secure legislation that would fix the defunct 30-year Treasury bond interest rate with a composite corporate rate. The business groups sent a letter February 24 to Senate conferees urging them to support an expedited conference with the House to draft compromise legislation to replace the defunct 30-year Treasury bond interest rate. The groups maintain that the interest rate issue is a problem that, if not corrected immediately, would result in more plan sponsors freezing, or in some cases, terminating their plans.
