Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative Becomes Independent Entity

The Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative -- after being successfully convened, led and staffed by ERIC for over a year and a half -- has completed the process of becoming an independent incorporated entity. What originally started as a dialogue between ERIC members and primary care doctors focused on providing better point-of-entry care to group health plan beneficiaries eventually attracted the interest and support of virtually all health care stakeholders. ERIC is proud of the progress made in calling attention to the misaligned incentives in primary care that lead to double digit inflation in group health plan costs each year, as well as piloting alternative models that aim to reduce unnecessary emergency room utilization and provide health plan members with a Patient Centered Medical Home.

Because of the support -- both financial and intellectual -- of ERIC members and the contributions of time of ERIC staff, the Collaborative has grown beyond expectations and is now able to support itself. Its objectives -- getting doctors to comprehensively manage patient care -- continue to be aligned with ERIC's precepts for health care delivery reform, and we look forward to continuing to work with the Collaborative and others to achieve sound health care reform.

The Collaborative now has its own website: www.pcpcc.net
