ERIC Sends Letter to Conferees of Pension Reform Bills

Below is a copy of a letter sent to House-Senate Conferees on the pension reform bill (H.R.2830/S.1783). H.R.2830 also includes reform of flexible spending accounts supported by ERIC.

Although some meetings and several one-on-one conversations among conferees have occurred, a framework for a conference agreement has not yet taken shape. Clearly, work on tax bills affecting capital gains, dividends, alternative minimum tax, and the extension of various expiring provisions is diverting time and energy at this time. However, we still expect a major push to reach an agreement on the pension bill before the Memorial Day recess. The attached letter, which combines ERIC positions on several different aspects of the bills, is designed to be a one-stop reference for conferees when negotiations pick up speed. Please feel free to use the letter in your own lobbying activities.
