ERIC: CMS Kickoff Message

Today, we received the following "kickoff message" from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding their planned communications with Medicare eligible individuals. Please contact me with any questions at 202-789-1400 or erogers@eric.org.

******************************************************

Throughout the year, CMS will be telling its beneficiaries about the upcoming Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage. This occasional LISTSERV will keep you posted about what and when we are communicating with beneficiaries.

This year it is important for people with Medicare to pay attention to their prescription drug coverage options. Below are CMS' current key messages to communicate about Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage.

Drug coverage that helps you pay for the prescriptions you need.

  • Medicare prescription drug coverage is available to all people with Medicare.
  • There is additional help for those who need it most.
  • Medicare prescription drug coverage pays for brand name and generic drugs.
  • You can choose between at least two Medicare prescription drug plans and pick a plan that is right for you.
  • Enroll now to pay lower premiums.
  • Enroll soon before the enrollment period ends.
  • Specific Employer/Union Coverage Messages
  • Medicare is working with employers and unions to help you keep the coverage you have.
  • Check with you former employer/union about your prescription drug coverage options.
  • If you have insurance through a current or former employer, you'll get notice from employer/union telling you about your options.
As always, to get any fact sheets, brochures, or booklets, visit www.medicare.gov on the web. Select "Publications."
