ERIC: Randy Johnson to Chair Citizens' Working Group on Health

Comptroller General David Walker announced February 28 that Randy Johnson (Motorola) would chair the 14 member Citizens Health Care Working Group. ERIC strongly supported Randy's appointment to the Working Group and we congratulate him on his well deserved appointment. Randy is a member of ERIC's Board of Directors and chairs ERIC's Health Policy Committee.

Congress created the Working Group to hold hearings and meetings across the country on health care coverage and cost issues and, within two years, submit a "Health Report to the American People" along with recommendations to Congress and the President.

Walker, who heads the Government Accountability Office (GAO) was tasked by Congress with appointing the Working Group from among over 500 applicants. The members represent a broad range of interests and regions of the country including consumers, providers, employers, and workers. The statute also required that members of the working group have personal experience or expertise in paying for benefits and issues relating to health care access.
