ERIC-HSA Summary Paper and Legislative Proposal

Below please find a summary paper developed by The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) outlining the desired changes to make HSAs, FSAs and HRAs more relevant and responsive to major employers. The paper also identifies an additional medical savings account desired by major employers to assist in saving for retiree medical costs (Retiree Medical Benefits Accounts - RMBA). The ERIC HSA Workability Project Steering Committee conducted numerous conference calls, a FocusOn call with US Treasury staff and launched an ERIC member survey to forge a consensus to identify the top needed coordination changes and any desired new medical saving accounts.

Many of you have already received the ERIC HSA Summary Paper and have participated in meetings where we explain the need for quick legislative action. We will continue to meet with appropriate Senators, Members and staff over the next several months. Please contact Edwina Rogers at 202-789-1400 or erogers@eric.org if your Member is interested in increasing the acceptability of consumer directed health care by employees of major employers.
