<nobr>May 20, 2004</nobr> ERIC Letter to Sen. Breaux on EEOC Rule
On May 17, Ranking Member of the Senate Aging Committee John Breaux (D-LA) held a hearing concerning the recent ruling by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to approve a proposed final rule that would permit employers (under ADEA) to lawfully coordinate retiree health benefit plans with eligibility for Medicare. ERIC is concerned that Congress may consider legislative efforts that would derail the EEOC’s April 22 decision resulting in an increased number of employers retreating from health arrangements. |
