ERIC Works to Establish Favorable Telehealth Laws in Kansas

Washington, DC – The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) is working to help create barrier-free access to telehealth and fair reimbursement practices in Kansas.

Today, ERIC – the only national association that advocates exclusively for large employers on health, retirement, and compensation public policies at the federal, state, and local levels –submitted testimony to the Kansas House of Representative Committee on Health and Human Services urging it to remove language that would require telehealth reimbursement at least at the same rate as an in-person visit. ERIC believes this will unnecessarily limit the benefits of telehealth by restricting reimbursement flexibility and potentially driving up the costs for those who choose to use telehealth services.

Earlier this week, ERIC submitted testimony, also to the Kansas House Committee on Health and Human Services, in support of House Bill 2254. ERIC applauded the technology-neutral definition of telehealth put forth in the bill that will allow patients to use different types of technology platforms designed for delivery of health care services.

“ERIC and our members recognize the significant opportunity provided by telehealth to modernize health care delivery and improve access to quality medical care for workers, retirees, and their families,” said Allison Wils, Senior Director of Health Policy, ERIC. “By removing technology barriers and having a set standard pay scale, it will allow more people to receive the care they need, when and where they need it.”
