Support for Telehealth Growing in Texas

For Immediate Release

Washington, DC – The following statement should be attributed to Allison Wils, Director of Health Policy, The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC):

“The Texas Association of Business’s (TAB) study on telemedicine’s use and satisfaction among employees and Texas businesses highlights a growing trend around the country – more and more people want access to quality health care when and where they need it.

With employees in every state, including many in Texas, ERIC’s members –the country’s largest employers –want their employees and families to have access to the health care services they need at the earliest opportunity and in a manner that best accommodates their busy lives. Many of our members offer telemedicine options for their employees and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from those who’ve used it.

Through ERIC’s telehealth initiative, we are working with states lawmakers and regulators to create uniformity in laws and regulations, including technology neutral definitions of telemedicine and barrier free access to this evolving channel of care.

ERIC appreciates TAB’s work to highlight this important and evolving channel of access to health care. We truly believe that telemedicine can and does make a difference.”
